Alternative Apparel Names New President
20-Year Apparel Industry Vet Erik Joule Takes Over
Supplier firm Alternative Apparel (asi/34850) has a new president with a wealth of leadership experience in the fashion industry. Erik Joule was just appointed to the position – and that of chief merchandising officer – by the Norcross, GA-based brand known for its fashion basics. In a Friday announcement, Alternative said Joule will be based out of the supplier's design office in Los Angeles.
"Erik has a wide breadth of experience in the fashion industry and is a proven expert in merchandising, marketing, and ultimately growing leading brands," says CEO Evan Toporek. "We feel that Erik has the perfect combination of ‘know how' and creative leadership qualities to take our growing brand to even greater heights."
A 20-year veteran of the apparel industry, Joule has been a leading decision maker at such brands as Disney, Guess, Quiksilver and the Gap. Most recently, he was the senior vice president of global merchandising and design for Levi Strauss & Co., playing a leading role in the globalization of the brand.
"I look forward to joining the Alternative Apparel team," says Joule. "Its values of ‘taking the road less traveled' as well as balancing sustainability and business are very symbiotic to my own. In addition, the intimate size of the company and its ability to be flexible, nimble and daring is most exciting to me, along with its international expansion."
