Senator Cuts Camsing Ties, Signs Deal With Beacon

Will Be Effective January 1, 2013

Senator Cuts Camsing Ties, Signs Deal With BeaconAs first reported yesterday in a Breaking News Alert, Counselor Top 40 supplier Camsing Global (asi/43668) and SENATOR GmbH & Co. KGaA have jointly announced that they're ending their supply and marketing agreement, effective January 1, 2013. Camsing had previously signed an agreement to market Senator products in the North American ad specialty industry when it acquired Dart (asi/48520) from Senator in December 2010.

"The decision to end the distribution agreement with Senator was not an easy one for both companies, but is the correct strategic move for all," said Billy Dolan, CEO of Camsing Global. "We've renewed our focus on our core strengths of domestic manufacturing and global sourcing and will continue to market writing instruments under our new line, StyleWrite. The Senator branded pens are the only items affected by this change."

Following the termination of the Camsing-Senator deal, Senator announced this morning that it has signed a new distribution contract with Beacon Promotions (asi/39250). Beacon now has the exclusive deal to market and sell Senator's plastic and metal pens to the North American ad specialty marketplace. Beacon will carry over 100 styles and colors of Senator products. All customer service, order processing, sales and imprinting will take place at the Beacon facilities in New Ulm, MN.

"The Senator brand has a strong following in North America," said Michael Nick, CEO of Senator, in response to the new deal. "We appreciate the loyalty to our brand."

For Beacon, the agreement represents a further expansion of its writing instrument offerings to the market. "We have an all-star lineup of quality writing instrument names with Dri Mark highlighters and markers and now Senator," said Gary Haley, president of Beacon. "The Senator brand is known around the world as a premium writing instrument designed for use as a promotional item."
